Podcast: High school E-sports Legend
Abstract:
High school E-sports Legend is about the journey of a man Koizumi Iwaoichiro, who failed in the high school entrance exam and was then totally depressed, to found himself in E-sports and ultimately represented Japan to compete in the International high school E-sports championship. After Koizumi failing the exam, Koizumi's parents reproved him hardly and moved to another city for work. Also, due to an incident happening in the night before Koizumi's parents moving, Koizumi's relationship with his childhood friend Takanashi Sakura broken. Suffering such frustration, Koizumi went to the new high school, which was inferior and unknown in his town, with the worst mood. Unexpectedly, Koizumi met his old primary school senior whom had not contacted with for years, Yamamoto Kyokuni. With Yamamoto's introduction, Koizumi joined the newly found high school e-sports club. At here, Koizumi met the president of the e-sports club Chen Nanhyu, who was in a MOBA game's master rank of Japan server. After being taught by Chen about the mechanics of the MOBA game they focused on, Koizumi displayed extraordinary talent in this game. Gradually, they found two other players, Abe Fumitatsu and Asabu Shu, as their team players. With the help of teammates, Koizumi reconciled with his childhood friend Takanashi, and he built up his confidence in the MOBA game. Finally, they won the qualification to represent Japan to compete in the International high school e-sports championship. This is the story about how Koizumi harvested friendship, achieved dreams and burnt youthful passion in the E-sports club.
Chapter I: At the beginning of everything
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: It has been all over. My good life, my harmonious family, and my best friend are all far away from me. Sitting on the uncomfortable chair in the smell classroom, I can still feel the last heat of summer. Summer vacation before the senior high school should be the greatest period for everyone, however, except me. Although that day has passed for around two months, the scenes from that day still haunted in my mind. The result of the entrance exam totally tore me apart. I still cannot accept the reality that I messed up the whole exam so that I have to enter this senior high school which I once despised most. Now I am with these bad students as my classmates, waiting the first class to receive such inferior education. I am sure I will never be able to enter the university I dream of in such condition.
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Hey, Koizumi, is it you?
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Someone interrupts my thinking. There is a fat man with glasses standing by the door of classroom. He looks familiar but I fail to think of who he is.
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Ye...Yes?
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Oh my god! It is you my bro! I never imagine we can meet here!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Eh.....but who are you?
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Gosh! How dare you forget your dear senior! I am Yamamoto!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: A man I recognize appear in my mind. Yamamoto was my senior in the primary school. We met during an outing, and then we always played together. However, after he graduated, I have never contacted with him. But actually he was not in this size in my impression.
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Oh, Yamamoto! It has been a long time since we last talked. Why are you here? In my impression your study is pretty good...
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Well, that is another story. In fact I think this school is not that bad. Actually it is close to my home and I can save a lot of time on transportation. How is it going dude? How is Takanashi? I remember we always played together. And she just lived around you right?
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Yamamoto's words remind me of the worst memories I never want recall, about that day and that night. My whole life changed and I can never go back to my previous life.
Koizumi's mother: You just get such low score? What were you thinking when you at the exam? You do not even have the qualification to take the selection exams of any good high schools! Why did I raise you such useless son!
Koizumi's father: This is disappointing! We stay in this trashy town these years just for you to get the better education here. Well, we just get
such humiliating score as a payback! Our factory can no longer persist running in such stagnant town. We should keep our focus on our business more than you from now! We are going to move to Osaka for more opportunities. We are ready to depart tomorrow. Taking you with us will absolutely hinder our career. You have to live by yourself here!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Could not stand the atmosphere, I went out of home. Suddenly I saw a familiar figure in my view. It is Sakura. I told her all the things happened and were going to happen on me.
Takanashi Sakura: Really? How can uncle and aunt do this? Don't worry, let's go back together and talk with them okay? I think we can get their understanding. Or as a long-year neighbor, at least let me represent my family to bid farewell to uncle and aunt.
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: I would never expect this would bring something more terrible to me, and to her.
Koizumi's mother: Oh look who is here! It is my dear son's girlfriend! You played with him so he did not pay attention to study. That's the reason he failed right? You are really a coquette!
Takanashi Sakura: No, aunt. We are not in the relationship you think. We are just...
Koizumi's father: Shut up! Why are you here! To laugh at us? Just get out here!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: It is enough dad! It is not her fault! It is all on me! I do not have the talent on study. No matter how much time I spend on study, I always get the worst result...

Koizumi Iwaoichiro: I ran out of the door. It was raining heavily. I kept running without destination. I did not know how long I had run. Then I stopped, letting the raindrops fell on my face to stimulate the pain. My whole mind went blank. Standing still, I did not know what I shall do next...
Takanashi Sakura: Oh you are here. It is raining and you will catch a cold. Let's go back and explain the whole issue to uncle and aunt okay? I do not know why they are so angry...
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Never! Just leave me alone!
Takanashi Sakura: But you are completely wet...
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Leave me alone!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: She left silently. I did know how long I stood here until I went back. Since then, I have never talked with her. Every time I met her in the neighborhood, we just pretended to be strangers.
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Well, so-so actually.
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Oh it is already this time. I have to go back for the first class. I will come here in the noon and take you to an interesting
place!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: I do not pay attention to his words at all. The morning courses are so boring and drowsy. Eventually I reach the noon break, and I decide to buy a fried noodles bread for my launch. However, Yamamoto appears in front me again. He grabs my arm and seems to take me to somewhere.
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Hey dude here we go!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Where are we going? I have not had launch yet.
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Me either! But this is not important! I said I will take you to an interesting place. Have you decided what club to join?
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Not yet. Actually I do not want...
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Wonderful! Join our E-sports club! The president Chen Nanhyu is a cool person and I think he will like you!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Wait, what? E-sports? What are you talking about?
Yamamoto Kyokuni: Chen will explain everything to you! I swear you will fall in love with it!
Koizumi Iwaoichiro: Finally we stop at an unimpressive classroom. This classroom seems to have some history. It is old and untidy. Several desks are put randomly with some old computers put on. A slim and tall man with gold-rimmed glassed sitting near a desk is busy with the computer. He sees us coming in, and then he stops his work.
Chen Nanhyu: Welcome to the E-sports Club!!
