Before Google
ARCHIVE SEARCH ASSIGNMENT
Present Findings in Class 10/31
On Halloween, we will commune with the dead. Well, sort of. “Before Google” is a periodic photographic Facebook post celebrity journalist and memoirist Kevin Sessums uses to source and share archival images of famous or interesting people. In this assignment, I will ask that you go into the archives at Emory (Rose Library or other such spaces in Atlanta, such as "the original search engine" of the Kenan Research Center) and locate a photograph (or document) not traceable or viewable through Google and other search engines.
I will ask that you share your findings with the class on 10/31. You will draft a 250-word blog post (due by 11/4) reflecting on the experience, your findings, and how it did or did not change your relationship to “search” engines.
