Before Google Reflection
Google is the search engine I use every day since I came to America. I take the convenience Google gives me for granted and I had never imagined how the life could be before Google. Therefore, "Before Google" is a meaningful assignment which makes us realize the importance of the search engine. At the beginning, I did not have any clue about how to do this assignment because I hardly ever go to the library for the search of material. Also, it took me a while to locate Rose Library where is nearest to me. When I stepped in, I found out that that library is completely different from what I expected. It is not full of books or materials which I could start searching easily and randomly. As a result, I had to consult the assistant here about how I could do this assignment. The assistant is really kind and he gave me constructive advice that I could refer to the library's data base online, which saves time and efforts. Therefore, I followed the instructions and began to look through the photographs the library stored online. Since I did not have an explicit topic about what I shall find, it was kind of hard to get the photograph I wanted. After looking through some pages, I found out the photograph about Atlanta downtown in 1970s was quite interesting. It shows that Atlanta downtown was not changed or reconstructed significantly during decades of years. This assignment conveys me the message that search engine is the most helpful tool when searching materials. It narrows down the search range so that we can easily get the materials about a certain topic. Also, it can give us some results that can inspire us when we do not know what we want to search specifically. It saves a large amount time and improves working efficiency remarkably. Hence I really appreciate Google after doing this assignment.
