Amy Reflection
The documentary film, Amy, well portrayed Amy Winehouse's life with rock solid objectivity. Amy Winehouse, was in fact, so special because of her unique personality. Although there are many female singers and celebrities who go through the process of being "a good girl" to "a temptress," and then possibly a "hot mess," Amy does not fall for such stages at all. Okay, she kind of becomes a "hot mess" due to her severe physical and mental conditions and alcohol and drug addiction, however, she never was a good girl nor temptress. Amy refuses to fabricate her image to sell out, be media-trained, and enslave herself to the record label and the music industry. She was being "her" and there was only her musical talent which mattered.
The documentary was packed with many clips and footages of Amy's daily lives, performances, and interviews of the people who were close to Amy. Having so much asset allowed the director to portray Amy perfectly by showing she being her. The film, in a way, showed how it is impossible for the female musician to excel without giving something up. In Amy's case, she had to give up all the "bad's" like alcohol and drug, and even the way how she spoke in front of cameras. Amy did not give those up, and there was only a tragedy that waited upon her path. In my opinion, the documentary style of the film Amy remained very truthful from the beginning to the end portraying Amy Winehouse's unique story.
